A retrospective cohort study of 110 Mexican patients aged over 70 years who underwent percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy between January 2005 and December 2012. The study evaluated long-term survival and prognostic factors associated with mortality. Karnofsky performance status, the Charlson Comorbidity Index and postoperative hypoalbuminemia were identified as independent risk factors. The findings highlight the relevance of nutritional and functional status in the assessment of these patients.
